The Southern White Faced Scops Owl is a small grey coloured owl with a white face surrounded by a black facial disc, grey feathering around the body with black streaking, it has large prominent ear tufts. Their eyes are bright orange and they have the largest ear opening of all scops owls. |

The White Faced Scops Owl can be found in scrub and bush and often uses the ground for nesting and breeding. This owl can be found throughout Africa and south of the Sahara. |
|
Southern White Faced Scops Owls hunt from an open perch and drop down upon their prey, they are mainly insectivorous feeding mainly upon large insects, scorpions, rodents and occasionally small birds. |
