Indian Scops Owl (Otus bakkamoena)

This owl is medium brown in colour with darker brown flecks, the under parts are a creamy buff colour with feathered legs. It has large eyes for it’s size with prominent “ear tufts”

The Indian Scops owl was originally located in India, the are now also established further west into Arabia. They primarily live in light wooded environments and along the edges of forests, preferring to nest in the hollow of a tree.

The Indian Scops Owl feeds on a varied diet which consists mainly of cockroaches, grasshoppers etc, but will also feed upon small birds, rodents and even the occasional bat.
