Peri x Prairie Falcon |

|
Peregrine falcons can dive at very high speeds in excess of 200 mph; a falcon’s wings are narrower than other raptors to aid speedy flight. The swept-back wings are the most striking feature of a falcon in flight. A close contender to the peregrine is the prairie falcon, which is larger in size but slower in flight. Peregrine x prairie falcons hunt by swooping on prey, mostly birds at high speeds. When two breeds of falcon mate, their offspring are known as a hybrid and they take on both names of the parents with a “x” in between signifying a cross breed. |
